When I was in high school a friend and I played an early Mothers of Invention lp ( probably Absolutely Free) for her classical music snob dad. He laughed in all the right places and then dug out his copy of the Blitzstein Threepenny Opera w/ Lenya, giving us a brief Kurt Weill tutorial between tracks.
" She could have sung with that band", he declared.
